Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
मन्ये साभरणा सुप्ता सीता अस्मिन् शयने तदा ।
तत्र तत्र हि दृश्यन्ते सक्ताः कनक बिन्दवः ॥ ॥२-८८-१४॥
Manye sābharaṇā suptā sītā asmin śayane tadā । Tatra tatra hi dṛśyante saktāḥ kanaka bindavaḥ ॥ ॥2-88-14॥
Translation
"I think Sita slept on this bed wearing her ornaments, for here and there particles of gold are seen stuck (to the grass)."

"मैं मानता हूँ कि उस समय सीता इस शैया पर आभूषण पहने हुए ही सो गई थीं, क्योंकि यहाँ जगह-जगह (घास में) सोने के कण (बिंदु) लगे हुए दिखाई दे रहे हैं।"
English Commentary
Bharata plays the detective, spotting kanaka bindavaḥ (gold particles) embedded in the grass. He deduces that Sita slept sābharaṇā (adorned with jewelry). This detail is poignant. It suggests either extreme fatigue preventing her from disrobing, or the lack of amenities to safely store royal jewelry in the wild. The friction of the delicate gold against the rough grass caused flakes to rub off. These glinting particles serve as tragic remnants of royalty grinding against the harsh reality of the forest floor.

भरत का सूक्ष्म निरीक्षण यहाँ पराकाष्ठा पर है। वे घास में चमकते हुए 'कनक बिन्दवः' (सोने के कणों) को देखते हैं। इसका अर्थ निकालते हुए वे कहते हैं कि सीता जी ने अपने आभूषण नहीं उतारे थे। सामान्यतः सोते समय आभूषण उतार दिए जाते हैं, किन्तु वन में न तो उन्हें रखने का सुरक्षित स्थान था और न ही परिचारिकाएं। या शायद वे इतनी थकी थीं कि वैसे ही सो गईं। 'साभरणा' (आभूषणों सहित) सोना उनकी विवशता को दर्शाता है। यह चमकते हुए सोने के कण उस अंधकारमय रात्रि की मूक गवाही दे रहे हैं।
