ता: स्म गत्वा परं तीरमवरोप्य च तं जनम् ।
निवृत्ता: काण्डचित्राणि क्रियन्ते दाशबन्धुभि: ।

tāḥ sma gatvā paraṃ tīramavaropya ca taṃ janam |
nivṛttāḥ kāṇḍacitrāṇi kriyante dāśabandhubhiḥ ॥2-89-17॥
Translation
Having reached the opposite bank and disembarked the passengers, the boats returned, and the kinsmen of the fishermen displayed various artistic maneuvers in the water.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वे नौकाएं दूसरे तट पर जाकर और उन लोगों को उतारकर जब लौटीं, तब मल्लाहों (दाश-बन्धुओं) द्वारा जल में विविध प्रकार की क्रीड़ाएं (चित्र-विचित्र गतियां) की जाने लगीं।
English Commentary
This verse captures a moment of levity and professional pride. After successfully depositing their royal passengers on the far bank, the oarsmen do not just row back mechanically; they perform kāṇḍacitrāṇi—artistic or skillful maneuvers with their boats and oars. This implies that the river crossing was executed with such ease that the boatmen had the energy to show off their aquatic skills. It humanizes the helpers, showing them not as mere servants, but as skilled artisans of the river who found joy in their service to the Ikshvaku lineage.
