दयिता त्वं सदा भर्तुरत्र मे नास्ति संशयः ।
त्वत्कृते स महाराजो विशेदपि हुताशनम् ॥२-९-२४॥
dayitā tvaṃ sadā bharturatra me nāsti saṃśayaḥ |
tvatkṛte sa mahārājo viśedapi hutāśanam ॥2-9-24॥
Translation
"You are always the beloved of your husband; on this point, I have no doubt. For your sake, that great king would even enter into fire."

तुम अपने पति (महाराज दशरथ) को सदा ही प्रिय हो, इसमें मुझे तनिक भी संदेह नहीं है। तुम्हारे लिए वे महाराज अग्नि में भी प्रवेश कर सकते हैं।
English Commentary
This verse is spoken by Manthara to Queen Kaikeyi. At this point in the narrative, Manthara is systematically breaking down Kaikeyi's resistance. Initially, Kaikeyi was pleased with the news of Rama's coronation. To change her mind, Manthara must first convince Kaikeyi of the immense power she holds over King Dasharatha. Psychological Manipulation: Manthara uses flattery (dayitā - beloved) to boost Kaikeyi's ego, assuring her that her influence is absolute. The Metaphor of Fire: The statement that Dasharatha would "enter fire" (viśedapi hutāśanam) is a hyperbole indicating that the King is so infatuated with Kaikeyi that he would do the impossible or the self-destructive just to please her. Manthara is handing Kaikeyi the weapon she needs: the knowledge that the King cannot say "no" to her.
