वसिष्ठसाहचर्य्यादिति भाव: ॥२-९०-५॥

English Commentary
This line serves as an interpretative key to the scene. It suggests that the warmth and immediacy of the reception described in the surrounding verses are largely due to Vasistha's presence. Bharata, standing under the shadow of his mother Kaikeyi's actions, might have been viewed with skepticism (as confirmed in later verses) had he arrived alone. However, vasiṣṭhasāhacaryyāt (due to the company of Vasistha) lends him credibility and protection. It highlights the concept that company defines character; standing beside the righteous Guru Vasistha acts as a character witness for Bharata before the probing eyes of Sage Bharadwaja.
