Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
अब्रवीद्भरतस्त्वेनं नन्विदं भवता कृतम् ।
पाद्यमर्घ्यं तथातिथ्यं वने यदुपपद्यते ॥२-९१-२॥
abravīdbharatastvenaṃ nanvidaṃ bhavatā kṛtam |
pādyamardhyaṃ tathātithyaṃ vane yadupapadyate ॥2-91-2॥
Translation
Bharata said to him, "Surely, you have already performed my hospitality with Padya, Arghya, and whatever (fruits/roots) is available in the forest."

भरत ने उनसे कहा, "आपने वन में उपलब्ध कन्द-मूल आदि के द्वारा मेरा पाद्य, अर्घ्य और आतिथ्य सत्कार तो कर ही दिया है।"
English Commentary
Bharata politely declines elaborate arrangements, stating that the standard forest hospitality has already been extended. He acknowledges the padya, arghya, and forest produce as sufficient (kṛtam - done). His statement vane yadupapadyate (whatever is naturally available in the forest) reflects his ascetic mindset; he has adopted the lifestyle of a hermit to emulate Rama and does not expect or want royal treatment. He tries to minimize the trouble for the Sage.

भरत संकोचशील और विनीत हैं। वे जानते हैं कि वनवासी ऋषियों के पास देने के लिए केवल जल और फल-मूल होते हैं, और वह उन्हें पहले ही मिल चुका है ('भवता कृतम्')। वे ऋषि को और कष्ट नहीं देना चाहते। 'वने यदुपपद्यते' (जो वन में मिल सकता है) कहकर भरत अपनी अपेक्षाओं की सादगी को दर्शाते हैं। वे यहाँ पिकनिक मनाने नहीं आए हैं, इसलिए वे किसी विशेष आयोजन की आवश्यकता महसूस नहीं करते। यह उनकी 'साधूनां अनुयायिता' (साधुओं जैसा आचरण) का प्रमाण है।
