अथोवाच भरद्वाजो भरतं प्रहसन्निव ।
जाने त्वां प्रीतिसंयुक्तं तुष्येस्त्वं येन केनचित् ॥२-९१-३॥
athovāca bharadvājo bharataṃ prahasanniva |
jāne tvāṃ prītisaṃyuktaṃ tuṣyestvaṃ yena kenacit ॥2-91-3॥
Translation
Then Bharadwaja spoke to Bharata as if smiling, "I know that you are full of affection and that you would be pleased with whatever little thing is offered."
हिंदी अनुवाद
तब भरद्वाज ने भरत से हंसते हुए से (मुस्कुराते हुए) कहा, "मैं जानता हूँ कि तुम प्रीति-युक्त हो (मुझसे स्नेह रखते हो) और 'येन केनचित्' (जो कुछ भी मिल जाए) उसी से संतुष्ट हो सकते हो।"
English Commentary
The Sage smiles (prahasanniva) at Bharata's humility. He acknowledges Bharata's modest nature, agreeing that Bharata would indeed be content (tuṣyeḥ) with yena kenacit (anything whatsoever/bare minimum). However, the smile implies that while Bharata is content with little, the Sage is not content with offering little. He intends to honor Bharata's devotion with a display of abundance. It sets the stage for the miraculous materialization of the celestial feast, contrasting Bharata's ascetic desires with the Sage's yogic opulence.
