Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
नाश्वबन्धो ऽश्वमाजानान्न गजं कुञ्जरग्रह: ।
मत्तप्रमत्तमुदिता नमू: सा तत्र सम्बभौ ॥ ॥२-९१-५६॥
Nāśvabandho 'śvamājānānna gajaṃ kuñjaragrahaḥ । Mattapramattamuditā camūḥ sā tatra sambabhau ॥ ॥2-91-56॥
Translation
The groom did not recognize his horse, nor did the elephant-keeper recognize his elephant. That entire army appeared there intoxicated, careless with joy, and delighted.
हिंदी अनुवाद
(नशे और आनंद के कारण) न तो साइस अपने घोड़े को पहचान पा रहा था और न ही महावत अपने हाथी को। वह सारी सेना वहां मत्त, प्रमत्त और हर्षित दिखाई दे रही थी।
English Commentary
This verse captures the comical and chaotic side of the festivities. The intoxication (matta) and overwhelming joy (mudita) led to a state of pramatta (carelessness/forgetfulness). Professional duties were abandoned to the point where keepers couldn't distinguish their own animals. It signifies a complete release from the rigid structures of military life. The "fog of war" is replaced here by a "fog of pleasure," where identity and duty dissolve into pure bliss.

यह श्लोक सेना की मानसिक स्थिति का चित्रण करता है। आनंद और मदिरा के प्रभाव में अनुशासन भंग हो गया था। 'मत्त' (नशे में), 'प्रमत्त' (होश खो देने वाले/लापरवाह) और 'मुदिता' (प्रसन्न)—ये तीन शब्द सेना की अवस्था का सटीक वर्णन करते हैं। एक पेशेवर साइस का अपने घोड़े को न पहचानना यह दर्शाता है कि वे अपने कर्तव्यों को भूलकर पूर्णत: सुखभोग में लीन हो चुके थे। यह ऋषि के आतिथ्य का प्रभाव था जिसने कठोर सैन्य अनुशासन को क्षण भर के लिए विलीन कर दिया।
