ह्रदा: पूर्णा रसालस्य दघ्न: श्वेतस्य चापरे ।
बभूवु: पायसस्यान्ये शर्करायाश्च सञ्चया: ॥ ॥२-९१-७२॥
hradā: pūrṇā rasālasya daghna: śvetasya cāpare । babhūvu: pāyasasyānye śarkarāyāśca sañcayā: ॥ ॥2-91-72॥
Translation
There were lakes filled with Rasala (a spiced yogurt drink/dish), others filled with white curd. There were other lakes of milk-pudding (payasam) and heaps of sugar.

वहां रसाला (शिखरन/श्रीखंड) से भरे हुए सरोवर थे, कुछ श्वेत दही के सरोवर थे। कुछ अन्य सरोवर खीर से भरे थे और वहां चीनी (शर्करा) के ढेर लगे हुए थे।
English Commentary
The hyperbole of 'lakes' (hrada) appears again to describe liquid or semi-liquid foods. Rasala is a delicacy made of curd mixed with sugar and spices (similar to modern Shrikhand or a heavy lassi). The verse describes distinct reservoirs for Rasala, plain white curd, and payasam. The 'heaps of sugar' suggest the raw ingredients were also manifested in abundance. This imagery of edible landscapes (lakes of food) creates a dreamlike atmosphere, emphasizing that the soldiers had entered a temporary paradise created by the Sage.

पुनः जलशयों का रूपक भोजन की मात्रा दर्शाने के लिए उपयोग किया गया है। 'रसाला' दही, चीनी और मसालों (जैसे इलायची, काली मिर्च) से बना एक अत्यंत स्वादिष्ट व्यंजन है (जिसे आज श्रीखंड कहा जा सकता है)। सरोवरों का दही और खीर से भरा होना यह बताता है कि सेना का हर व्यक्ति अपनी इच्छा अनुसार जितना चाहे खा सकता था। शर्करा (चीनी) के ढेर मिठाई की प्रचुरता को दर्शाते हैं। यह वर्णन 'अमृत' तुल्य भोजन का आभास कराता है, जो सैनिकों की सारी थकान मिटाने में सक्षम था।
