वाजिमुख्या मनुष्याश्च मत्ताश्च वरवारणा: ।
प्रच्छाद्य भगवन् भूमिं महतीमनुयान्ति माम् ॥ ॥२-९१-८॥
Vājimukhyā manuṣyāśca mattāśca varavāraṇāḥ । Pracchādya bhagavan bhūmiṃ mahatīmanuyānti mām ॥ ॥2-91-8॥
Translation
"O Venerable One, excellent horses, men, and intoxicated elephants of the finest breed are following me, covering a vast expanse of land."

"हे भगवन्! उत्तम घोड़े, मनुष्य और मदमस्त श्रेष्ठ हाथी विशाल भूमि को ढककर मेरे पीछे-पीछे चल रहे हैं।"
English Commentary
Bharata describes the logistical footprint of his retinue to justify his caution. The imagery of the army "covering the vast earth" (Pracchādya bhūmiṃ) emphasizes the sheer scale of his forces. By mentioning intoxicated elephants (Matta Varana) and prime horses, he highlights elements of the army that are naturally boisterous and difficult to contain within the delicate confines of a hermitage. This description serves as a stark contrast to the tranquility of Bharadwaja’s ashram, reinforcing why strict separation was necessary until the sage explicitly invited them.

भरत यहाँ अपनी सेना की विशालता और स्वरूप का वर्णन कर रहे हैं ताकि ऋषि को उनके 'भय' का कारण स्पष्ट हो सके। 'मत्ताश्च वरवारणा:' (मदमस्त श्रेष्ठ हाथी) और 'वाजिमुख्या' (उत्तम घोड़े) का उल्लेख यह बताता है कि सेना न केवल बड़ी है, बल्कि शक्तिशाली और potentially विनाशकारी भी है। जब ऐसी सेना चलती है तो वह भूमि को 'आच्छादित' (ढक) कर लेती है। भरत का आशय यह है कि इतना भारी जमावड़ा आश्रम की नाजुक पारिस्थितिकी (Ecology) के लिए घातक हो सकता है। वे अपनी शक्ति का प्रदर्शन नहीं कर रहे, बल्कि अपनी सावधानी का औचित्य सिद्ध कर रहे हैं।
