व्यस्मयन्त मनुष्यास्ते स्वप्नकल्पं तदद्भुतम् ।
दृष्ट्वातिथ्यं कृतं तादृक् भरतस्य महर्षिणा ॥२-९१-८०॥
Vyasmayanta manuṣyāste svapnakalpaṃ tadadbhutam । Dṛṣṭvātithyaṃ kṛtaṃ tādṛk bharatasya maharṣiṇā ॥2-91-80॥
Translation
Seeing such hospitality accorded to Bharata by the great Sage, all those men were struck with amazement. That wonder appeared to them like a dream.
हिंदी अनुवाद
महर्षि (भरद्वाज) द्वारा भरत का वैसा (अलौकिक) सत्कार किया गया देख, वे सभी मनुष्य विस्मित हो गए। वह सब उन्हें एक अद्भुत स्वप्न के समान प्रतीत हो रहा था।
English Commentary
This verse captures the psychological impact of the miracle on Bharata's entourage. The juxtaposition of a hermit's forest dwelling with the highest levels of royal luxury was so stark that it felt surreal, described here as svapnakalpaṃ (dream-like). The soldiers were accustomed to the hardships of the march, so this sudden abundance left them in a state of cognitive dissonance and awe. It emphasizes that what Bharadwaja accomplished through spiritual merit surpassed material limitations, leaving the beneficiaries questioning the reality of their own senses.

यह श्लोक सैनिकों की मनोवैज्ञानिक स्थिति का वर्णन करता है। वन के कठोर जीवन और तपस्वी के आश्रम में ऐसी राजसी भोग-विलासिता की सामग्री देखना उनके लिए अकल्पनीय था, इसीलिए इसे 'स्वप्नकल्पं' (स्वप्न के समान) कहा गया है। वास्तविकता और माया का भेद मिट गया था। ऋषि भरद्वाज की तपस्या का प्रभाव ऐसा था कि जाग्रत अवस्था में भी उन्हें स्वप्न जैसा अनुभव हो रहा था। 'व्यस्मयन्त' (विस्मित होना) शब्द उस विस्मय को दर्शाता है जो मनुष्य को अपनी आँखों पर विश्वास करने से रोकता है। यह भरत के प्रति ऋषि के प्रेम और उनकी शक्ति का प्रमाण था।
