इत्येवं रममाणानां देवानामिव नन्दने ।
भरद्वाजाश्रमे रम्ये सा रात्रिर्व्यत्यवर्त्तत ॥२-९१-८१॥
Ityevaṃ ramamāṇānāṃ devānāmiva nandane । Bharadvājāśrame ramye sā rātrirvyatyavarttata ॥2-91-81॥
Translation
Thus, while they enjoyed themselves like gods in the Nandana gardens, that night passed away in the delightful hermitage of Bharadwaja.

इस प्रकार नन्दनवन में देवताओं की भाँति क्रीड़ा और आनंद लेते हुए, रमणीय भरद्वाज आश्रम में उनकी वह रात्रि व्यतीत हो गई।
English Commentary
The poet employs a simile comparing the soldiers to gods in the Nandana (the celestial garden of Indra) to convey the height of their bliss. For one night, the mortal constraints of fatigue, grief, and anxiety were suspended. The atmosphere of Bharadwaja’s hermitage was transformed into a divine realm where worldly troubles did not exist. The phrase vyatyavarttata (passed away) signifies the transient nature of this pleasure; despite its intensity and divine quality, time continued to move, bringing the dream-like experience to its inevitable conclusion.

यहाँ वाल्मीकि जी ने सैनिकों के आनंद की तुलना 'नन्दनवन' में विहार करने वाले देवताओं से की है। नन्दनवन को स्वर्ग का उद्यान माना जाता है जहाँ दुख और चिंता का प्रवेश नहीं है। उस एक रात्रि के लिए, भरत की सेना वनवास के कष्टों और अपने राजा (दशरथ) की मृत्यु के शोक को भूल गई थी। 'व्यत्यवर्त्तत' (बीत गई) शब्द समय की गतिशीलता का संकेत देता है—सुख का समय शीघ्र व्यतीत होता है। यह रात्रि उनके जीवन की सबसे सुखद रात्रियों में से एक थी, जो ऋषि के आशीर्वाद से संभव हुई।
