Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
प्रतिजग्मुश्च ता नद्यो गन्धर्वाश्च यथागतम् ।
भरद्वाजमनुज्ञाप्य ताश्च सर्वा वराङ्गना: ॥२-९१-८२॥
Pratijagmuśca tā nadyo gandharvāśca yathāgatam । Bharadvājamanujñāpy a tāśca sarvā varāṅganāḥ ॥2-91-82॥
Translation
Then, those rivers, Gandharvas, and all the celestial damsels, having taken permission from Bharadwaja, returned just as they had come.

तत्पश्चात् वे नदियाँ, गन्धर्व और सभी अप्सराएँ (वराङ्गनाएँ) भरद्वाज मुनि से आज्ञा लेकर, जैसे आई थीं, वैसे ही वापस लौट गईं।
English Commentary
This verse marks the dissolution of the illusionary hospitality. The divine entities—personified rivers, celestial musicians (Gandharvas), and damsels—departed, but only after seeking the Sage's permission (anujñāpya). This protocol emphasizes that these beings were bound by the Sage’s will and spiritual command. They appeared solely for the purpose of the Atithya (hospitality) and left once the duty was fulfilled. It serves as a transition from the magical realm back to the reality of the forest, highlighting that the luxury was temporary, while the Sage's power remains constant.

यह श्लोक मायावी सृष्टि के समापन का सूचक है। जो दिव्य शक्तियां (नदियाँ, गन्धर्व, अप्सराएं) ऋषि के आवाहन पर आई थीं, वे अब कार्य पूर्ण होने पर विदा ले रही हैं। महत्वपूर्ण बात यह है कि वे 'अनुज्ञाप्य' (आज्ञा लेकर) गईं। यह दर्शाता है कि वे कोई स्वतंत्र आगंतुक नहीं थे, बल्कि ऋषि के तपोबल के अधीन थे। यह ऋषि भरद्वाज के आध्यात्मिक अधिकार (Authority) को स्थापित करता है कि प्रकृति और देवलोक की शक्तियाँ भी उनके अनुशासन का पालन करती हैं। सत्कार पूर्ण होते ही, आश्रम अपनी मूल अवस्था की ओर लौटने लगा।
