एतस्यास्तु सुतौ देव्या: कुमारौ देववर्णिनौ ।
उभौ लक्ष्मणशत्रुघ्नौ वीरौ सत्यपराक्रमौ ॥२-९२-२३॥
Etasyāstu sutau devyāḥ kumārau devavarṇinau । Ubhau lakṣmaṇaśatrughnau vīrau satyaparākramau ॥2-92-23॥
Translation
The two princes, Lakshmana and Shatrughna, both heroes of true valor and possessing the radiance of gods, are the sons of this noble lady.
हिंदी अनुवाद
लक्ष्मण और शत्रुघ्न, वे दोनों वीर, सत्य-पराक्रमी और देवताओं के समान रूप वाले कुमार, इन्हीं देवी (सुमित्रा) के सुपुत्र हैं।
English Commentary
Bharata identifies Sumitra as the mother of the twin warriors, Lakshmana and Shatrughna. He bestows high praise on them, calling them satyaparākramau (of true/unfailing valor) and devavarṇinau (god-like in appearance). By acknowledging both sons, Bharata implicitly highlights Sumitra's unique sacrifice: she has given one son to the forest (Rama's service) and the other to the state (Bharata's service), leaving her bereft of both.

भरत सुमित्रा के पुत्रों की प्रशंसा करते हैं। लक्ष्मण और शत्रुघ्न दोनों के लिए 'देववर्णिनौ' (देवताओं जैसा रंग/रूप वाले) और 'सत्यपराक्रमौ' (जिनका पराक्रम सत्य/अमोघ है) विशेषणों का प्रयोग किया गया है। रोचक बात यह है कि भरत शत्रुघ्न को भी इसमें शामिल करते हैं, जो अभी भरत के साथ ही हैं, और लक्ष्मण को भी, जो वन में हैं। यह सुमित्रा के त्याग को रेखांकित करता है—उनके दोनों पुत्र सेवा में समर्पित हैं (लक्ष्मण राम की, और शत्रुघ्न भरत/राज्य की)।
