Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
भरद्वाजो महर्षिस्तं ब्रुवन्तं भरतं तथा ।
प्रत्युवाच महाबुद्धिरिदं वचनमर्थवत् ॥२-९२-२८॥
Bharadvājo maharṣistaṃ bruvantaṃ bharataṃ tathā । Pratyuvāca mahābuddhiridaṃ vacanamarthavat ॥2-92-28॥
Translation
Seeing Bharata speaking in that manner, the great Sage Bharadwaja, of great intelligence, replied with these meaningful words.

भरत को इस प्रकार बोलते देख, महाबुद्धिमान महर्षि भरद्वाज ने (उन्हें सांत्वना देते हुए) ये सार्थक (अर्थपूर्ण) वचन कहे।
English Commentary
Witnessing Bharata's distress, the "greatly intelligent" (mahābuddhiḥ) Sage Bharadwaja intervenes. He responds with arthavat (meaningful/significant) words. The Sage realizes that Bharata is consumed by guilt and hatred, which obstructs his understanding of the divine plan. Bharadwaja’s intervention is poised to shift the narrative from blame to destiny, preparing Bharata to accept the events not as a tragedy caused by a wicked mother, but as a necessary cosmic unfolding (which usually follows in the Sage's advice).

भरत की आत्म-ग्लानि और क्रोध को शांत करने के लिए महर्षि हस्तक्षेप करते हैं। ऋषि को 'महाबुद्धि:' कहा गया है क्योंकि वे जानते हैं कि इस समय भरत को क्या सुनना चाहिए। यदि भरत इसी घृणा में जलते रहे, तो यह उनके और राज्य के लिए घातक होगा। ऋषि 'अर्थवत्' (सार्थक/गहरे अर्थ वाले) वचन बोलते हैं। यह श्लोक एक मोड़ (turning point) है जहाँ ऋषि एक उच्चतर दृष्टिकोण (Higher Perspective) प्रदान करने वाले हैं, जो अगले श्लोकों में स्पष्ट होगा कि राम का वनवास देवताओं के कार्य-सिद्धि के लिए आवश्यक है।
