Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
एवमुक्तास्तत: सर्वे तत्र तस्थु: समन्तत: ।
भरतो यत्र धूमाग्रं तत्र दृष्टिं समादधात् ॥ ॥२-९३-२६॥
Evamuktāstataḥ sarve tatra tasthuḥ samantataḥ । Bharato yatra dhūmāgraṃ tatra dṛṣṭiṃ samādadhat ॥ ॥2-93-26॥
Translation
Thus addressed, all [the soldiers] halted there, positioning themselves all around. Bharata fixed his gaze intently upon the place from where the plume of smoke was rising.
हिंदी अनुवाद
भरत की आज्ञा पाकर वे सभी सैनिक वहीं चारों ओर रुक गए। भरत ने अपनी दृष्टि उस ओर एकाग्र की जहाँ से धुआँ उठ रहा था।
English Commentary
This verse highlights Bharata's singular focus. despite the bustle of the army settling down around him, his attention is entirely captured by the rising smoke. The smoke serves as the visual confirmation of Rama’s hermitage. The phrase dṛṣṭiṃ samādadhat implies a deep, meditative fixation; for Bharata, that smoke is not merely a physical sign but a spiritual beacon leading him to his brother. It marks the culmination of his desperate search and the beginning of the emotional reunion.

इस श्लोक में भरत की एकाग्रता और व्यग्रता का चित्रण है। यद्यपि पूरी सेना उनके साथ है, किन्तु भरत का ध्यान केवल उस धुएँ पर है जो राम के आश्रम का संकेत दे रहा है। 'दृष्टिं समादधात्' का अर्थ है कि उन्होंने अपनी दृष्टि पूरी तरह से उस लक्ष्य पर टिका दी। यह उनकी आतुरता को दर्शाता है कि वे अपने अग्रज राम के दर्शन के लिए कितने व्याकुल हैं। धुआँ यहाँ एक मार्गदर्शक चिह्न (signpost) के रूप में कार्य कर रहा है, जो वन के घने वातावरण में मानव उपस्थिति और विशेषकर अग्निहोत्र का प्रमाण है।
