सागरौघनिभा सेना भरतस्य महात्मन: ।
महीं सञ्छादयामास प्रावृषि द्यामिवाम्बुद: ॥२-९३-४॥
sāgaraughanibhā senā bharatasya mahātmana: |
mahīṃ sañchādayāmāsa prāvṛṣi dyāmivāmbuda: ॥2-93-4॥
Translation
The army of the high-souled Bharata, resembling the flood of an ocean, covered the earth just as clouds cover the sky during the rainy season.

महात्मा भरत की वह सेना, जो सागर के प्रवाह (बाढ़) के समान थी, पृथ्वी को उसी प्रकार ढक लिया, जैसे वर्षा ऋतु में बादल आकाश को ढक लेते हैं।
English Commentary
The poet uses grandiose similes to convey the magnitude of the procession. The army is likened to the rising tide or flood of an ocean ('sagaraughanibha'), emphasizing its uncontrollable and fluid movement. The second simile compares the army covering the earth to monsoon clouds ('ambuda') obscuring the sky. This imagery evokes a sense of encompassing power and vastness, suggesting that the very ground was invisible beneath the feet of the soldiers.

यहाँ दो सुंदर उपमाएँ दी गई हैं। पहली, सेना की तुलना 'सागरौघ' (समुद्र की बाढ़) से की गई है, जो उसके विस्तार और गति को दर्शाती है। दूसरी, जैसे वर्षा ऋतु ('प्रावृषि') में बादल आकाश को अदृश्य कर देते हैं, वैसे ही सेना ने धरती को ढक लिया है। यह श्लोक सेना की विशालता और घनत्व (density) को प्रभावी ढंग से व्यक्त करता है।
