दीर्घकालोषितस्तस्मिन् गिरौ गिरिवनप्रिय: ।
वैदेह्या: प्रियमाकांक्षन् स्वं च चित्तं विलोभयन् ॥ ॥२-९४-१॥
Dīrghakāloṣitastasmin girau girivanapriyaḥ । Vaidehyāḥ priyamākāṅkṣan svaṃ ca cittaṃ vilobhayan ॥ ॥2-94-1॥
Translation
Having dwelt on that mountain for a long time, Rama, who was fond of mountains and forests, desiring to please Vaidehi (Sita) and delight his own mind as well, [began to describe the mountain].
हिंदी अनुवाद
उस पर्वत पर रहते हुए बहुत समय बीत जाने पर, पर्वत और वनों से प्रेम करने वाले राम, वैदेही (सीता) को प्रसन्न करने की इच्छा से और अपने चित्त को भी बहलाने के लिए [चित्रकूट का वर्णन करने लगे]।
English Commentary
This verse marks a shift from Bharata's frantic search to Rama's peaceful existence. The epithet girivanapriyaḥ (lover of mountains and forests) reveals Rama's adaptability and aesthetic sensibility. He is not sulking in exile but actively appreciating nature. His motivation is twofold: to share this beauty with Sita (Vaidehi) to cheer her up, and to gladden his own heart. It sets a romantic and serene tone, contrasting with the political turmoil approaching with Bharata.

यहाँ से एक नया सर्ग और एक नया भाव प्रारंभ होता है। राम की 'गिरिवनप्रिय:' (पर्वत और वन प्रेमी) के रूप में यह छवि अत्यंत महत्वपूर्ण है। यह दर्शाता है कि राम वनवास को केवल कष्ट के रूप में नहीं, बल्कि प्रकृति के सान्निध्य के अवसर के रूप में देख रहे थे। सीता का मन बहलाने और उन्हें वन के कष्टों से विमुख करने के लिए राम सौंदर्य-बोध (aesthetics) का सहारा लेते हैं। यह एक पति के रूप में राम के स्नेही स्वभाव और उनकी स्थितप्रज्ञता का परिचायक है।
