Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
यदीह शरदो ऽनेकास्त्वया सार्द्धमनिन्दिते ।
लक्ष्मणेन च वत्स्यामि न मां शोक: प्रधक्ष्यति ॥ ॥२-९४-१५॥
Yadīha śarado 'nekāstvayā sārddhamanindite । Lakṣmaṇena ca vatsyāmi na māṃ śokaḥ pradhakṣyati ॥ ॥2-94-15॥
Translation
O blameless one, if I were to dwell here for many autumns with you and Lakshmana, grief would not scorch me.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे अनिन्दिते (दोषरहित सीते)! यदि मैं तुम्हारे और लक्ष्मण के साथ यहाँ अनेक वर्षों (शरद ऋतुओं) तक भी निवास करूँ, तो भी शोक मुझे जला नहीं पाएगा (मुझे दुःख नहीं होगा)।
English Commentary
This is a pivotal emotional declaration. Rama assures Sita ('the blameless one') that his happiness is contingent on company, not location. The presence of Sita and Lakshmana makes the wilderness more bearable than a palace without them. By saying grief will not 'burn' or 'scorch' (pradhakṣyati) him, he acknowledges the potential for pain in exile but asserts that their companionship is the antidote. It reveals Rama's definition of home: it is wherever his loved ones are. This statement lays the foundation for their endurance through the fourteen years.

यह श्लोक राम के प्रेम और संतोष की पराकाष्ठा है। वे स्पष्ट करते हैं कि अयोध्या का राज-पाट उनके सुख का कारण नहीं था, बल्कि उनका परिवार (सीता और लक्ष्मण) ही उनका वास्तविक धन है। 'न मां शोक: प्रधक्ष्यति' (शोक मुझे नहीं जलाएगा) यह दर्शाता है कि प्रियजनों का साथ किसी भी भौतिक अभाव की पूर्ति कर सकता है। राम यहाँ 'शरद:' (शरद ऋतुओं) शब्द का प्रयोग वर्षों के लिए करते हैं। यह सीता को आश्वस्त करने का प्रयास है कि वनवास की अवधि, चाहे वह कितनी भी लंबी क्यों न हो, उनके साथ होने से क्षणभर की तरह बीत जाएगी।
