सखीवच्च विगाहस्व सीते मन्दाकिनीं नदीम् ।
कमलान्यवमज्जन्ती पुष्कराणि च भामिनि ॥२-९५-१४॥
sakhīvacca vigāhasva sīte mandākinīṃ nadīm । kamalānyavamajjantī puṣkarāṇi ca bhāmini ॥2-95-14॥
Translation
O noble lady! O Sita! Enter the Mandakini river, stirring the white and blue lotuses, and bathe as if you were playing with a dear friend.

हे भामिनी! हे सीते! तुम मन्दाकिनी नदी में श्वेत और नील कमलों को डुबोती हुई (विलोडित करती हुई) इस प्रकार स्नान करो जैसे तुम अपनी किसी सखी के साथ जलक्रीड़ा कर रही हो।
English Commentary
The instruction to treat the river "like a friend" (sakhīvat) is a profound psychological gesture. Rama is helping Sita overcome the alienation of the wilderness by framing the river not as a wild force, but as a gentle companion. He encourages her to interact playfully with the lotuses (kamalāni and puṣkarāṇi), mimicking the water sports (Jala-krida) she might have enjoyed in the palace. This bridges the gap between her past life of luxury and her current life of asceticism, normalizing the forest environment for her.

यहाँ 'सखीवत्' (सखी के समान) शब्द मनोवैज्ञानिक दृष्टि से अत्यंत महत्वपूर्ण है। राजकुमारी सीता के लिए वन भयावह हो सकता है, परंतु राम नदी का मानवीकरण कर उसे सीता की 'सखी' बना देते हैं। वे चाहते हैं कि सीता नदी से डरें नहीं, बल्कि उससे अपनापन जोड़ें। 'कमलानि' और 'पुष्कराणि' का उल्लेख सौंदर्य और कोमलता को बढ़ाता है। राम सीता को राजमहल की सखियों की कमी महसूस नहीं होने देना चाहते, इसलिए वे प्रकृति (नदी) को ही उनकी सखी के रूप में प्रस्तुत कर रहे हैं।
