अद्यैतच्चित्रकूटस्य काननं निशितै: शरै: ।
भिन्दन् शत्रुशरीराणि करिष्ये शोणितोक्षितम् ॥ ॥२-९६-२९॥
Adyaitaccitrakūṭasya kānanaṃ niśitaiḥ śaraiḥ । Bhindan śatruśarīrāṇi kariṣye śoṇitokṣitam ॥ ॥2-96-29॥
Translation
Today, piercing the bodies of the enemies with sharp arrows, I shall render this forest of Chitrakuta drenched in blood.
हिंदी अनुवाद
आज मैं अपने तीखे बाणों से शत्रुओं के शरीरों को भेदकर, चित्रकूट के इस वन को रक्त से सराबोर कर दूँगा।
English Commentary
The peaceful sanctuary of Chitrakuta is threatened to be turned into a slaughterhouse. Lakshmana visualizes the forest floor soaked in blood (śoṇitokṣitam). This verse highlights the paradox of the situation: Lakshmana, dressed as a hermit, speaks the language of devastating war. His focus is on the physical piercing of bodies (bhindan śatruśarīrāṇi), showing that he sees the arriving group not as kin, but strictly as targets to be eliminated to ensure Rama's safety.

यहाँ लक्ष्मण का योद्धा रूप अपने भयानक स्वरूप में है। चित्रकूट, जो अब तक शांति और तपस्या का स्थान था, उसे वे युद्धभूमि बनाने को तत्पर हैं। 'शोणितोक्षितम्' (रक्त से भीगा हुआ) शब्द का प्रयोग उनके हिंसात्मक संकल्प को दर्शाता है। यह श्लोक उस विरोधाभास को रेखांकित करता है जहाँ एक तपस्वी के वेश में रहने वाला राजकुमार अपने प्रिय भाई की रक्षा के लिए भीषण रक्तपात करने को तैयार है। उनका उद्देश्य केवल रक्षा करना नहीं, बल्कि शत्रु का पूर्ण विनाश करना है।
