तांश्च विद्रवतो दृष्ट्वा तं च श्रुत्वा च निस्वनम् ।
उवाच राम: सौमित्रिं लक्ष्मणं दीप्ततेजसम् ॥२-९६-६॥
tāṃśca vidravato dṛṣṭvā taṃ ca śrutvā ca nisvanam । uvāca rāmaḥ saumitriṃ lakṣmaṇaṃ dīptatejasam ॥2-96-6॥
Translation
Seeing them fleeing and hearing that tumultuous sound, Rama spoke to Sumitra's son, Lakshmana, of resplendent energy.
हिंदी अनुवाद
उन (पशुओं) को भागते हुए देखकर और उस भारी आवाज को सुनकर, राम ने दीप्त तेज वाले (तेजस्वी) सुमित्रानंदन लक्ष्मण से कहा।
English Commentary
Upon realizing a potential threat, Rama turns to his second-in-command, Lakshmana. The epithet dīptatejasam (one with glowing energy/valor) is significant. It describes Lakshmana’s inherent martial nature and readiness. Rama addresses him not just as a brother, but as a warrior capable of handling whatever threat this noise presages. It reinforces the dynamic where Rama is the calm observer and strategist, while Lakshmana is the dynamic force of action.

संकट या संदेह की स्थिति में राम सबसे पहले लक्ष्मण को संबोधित करते हैं। लक्ष्मण न केवल उनके भाई हैं, बल्कि उनके रक्षक और सेनापति भी हैं। यहाँ लक्ष्मण के लिए 'दीप्ततेजसम्' (प्रदीप्त तेज वाले) विशेषण का प्रयोग बहुत सार्थक है। यह संकेत देता है कि लक्ष्मण शौर्य और पराक्रम से भरे हुए हैं और किसी भी आक्रमण का सामना करने के लिए सदैव तत्पर रहते हैं। राम जानते हैं कि यदि कोई खतरा है, तो लक्ष्मण का तेज उसे भस्म करने के लिए पर्याप्त है। यह भाइयों के बीच के विश्वास और कार्य-विभाजन को दर्शाता है।
