स्नेहेनाक्रान्तहृदय: शोकेनाकुलितेन्द्रिय:।
द्रष्टुमभ्यागतो ह्येष भरतो नान्यथा गत: ॥ ॥२-९७-११॥
Snehenākrāntahṛdayaḥ śokenākulitendriyaḥ। Draṣṭumabhyāgato hyeṣa Bharato nānyathā gataḥ ॥ ॥2-97-11॥
Translation
With his heart overcome by affection and his senses agitated by grief, Bharata has indeed come to see us; he has not come for any other reason.
हिंदी अनुवाद
(यह सुनकर) स्नेह से उनका हृदय भर आया होगा और शोक से उनकी इंद्रियां व्याकुल हो गई होंगी; इसलिए वे (हमें) देखने आए हैं, किसी अन्य उद्देश्य से नहीं।
English Commentary
Rama definitively concludes his profiling of Bharata. He attributes the visit to sneha (affection) and shoka (grief), rejecting any political or malicious motive (nānyathā). Rama argues that Bharata is emotionally overwhelmed and simply wants to see his brother. This contrast is striking: Lakshmana sees an army ready to kill; Rama sees a brother rushing to comfort him. Rama’s conviction in Bharata’s love is unshakable.

राम यहाँ आत्मविश्वास के साथ निर्णय सुनाते हैं: "नान्यथा गत:" (किसी और वजह से नहीं आए)। राम का विश्लेषण है कि भरत 'स्नेह' और 'शोक' के वशीभूत होकर आए हैं। यह श्लोक राम की मनोवैज्ञानिक समझ को दर्शाता है। वे जानते हैं कि भरत का स्वभाव कैसा है। लक्ष्मण ने सेना देखी, राम ने उस सेना के पीछे छिपे भाई के व्याकुल हृदय को देखा। यही दृष्टि का अंतर राम को 'मर्यादा पुरुषोत्तम' बनाता है।
