Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
अम्बां च कैकयीं रुष्य परुषं चाप्रियं वदन्।
प्रसाद्य पितरं श्रीमान् राज्यं मे दातुमागत: ॥ ॥२-९७-१२॥
Ambāṃ ca Kaikeyīṃ ruṣya paruṣaṃ cāpriyaṃ vadan। Prasādya pitaraṃ śrīmān rājyaṃ me dātumāgataḥ ॥ ॥2-97-12॥
Translation
Being angry with mother Kaikeyi and speaking harsh, unpleasant words to her, and having appeased our father, the glorious one has come to give the kingdom to me.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वे माता कैकेयी पर क्रोधित होकर और उन्हें कठोर और अप्रिय वचन कहकर तथा पिता को प्रसन्न (अनुकूल) करके, मुझे राज्य देने के लिए आए हैं।
English Commentary
Note the dramatic irony here: Rama does not yet know Dasharatha is dead. He assumes Bharata has berated Kaikeyi and prasādya (propitiated/won over) their father to reverse the exile order. Rama predicts Bharata's intent is to surrender the kingdom (rājyaṃ me dātum). This highlights Rama's innocence regarding the tragedy in Ayodhya and his firm belief that Bharata would never accept the crown knowing it belongs to Rama.

राम को अभी तक राजा दशरथ की मृत्यु का समाचार नहीं मिला है। वे अनुमान लगा रहे हैं कि भरत ने कैकेयी को फटकारा होगा और पिता दशरथ को मना लिया होगा कि राम को वापस बुलाया जाए। 'प्रसाद्य पितरं' (पिता को प्रसन्न कर) यह दर्शाता है कि राम को लगता है पिता अभी भी जीवित हैं और भरत ने उनकी अनुमति ले ली है। राम को विश्वास है कि भरत राज्य लेने नहीं, 'राज्यं मे दातुमागत:' (मुझे राज्य देने) आए हैं।
