Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
प्राप्तकालं यदेषोऽस्मान् भरतो द्रष्टुमिच्छति।
अस्मासु मनसाप्येष नाप्रियं किञ्चिदाचरेत् ॥ ॥२-९७-१३॥
Prāptakālaṃ yadeṣo'smān Bharato draṣṭumicchati। Asmāsu manasāpyeṣa nāpriyaṃ kiñcidācaret ॥ ॥2-97-13॥
Translation
It is appropriate that Bharata wishes to see us at this time. He would not commit any unpleasant act towards us even in his mind.
हिंदी अनुवाद
यह उचित ही है कि भरत हमें देखना चाहते हैं। वे हमारे प्रति मन से भी कभी कोई अप्रिय आचरण नहीं कर सकते।
English Commentary
Rama reinforces his defense of Bharata. He states it is prāptakālaṃ (timely/appropriate) for a reunion. He asserts that Bharata is incapable of doing harm even in his mind (manasāpi). This suggests that for Rama, Bharata’s physical actions (bringing an army) must be interpreted through the lens of his pure internal character, which Rama considers incapable of treachery.

राम लक्ष्मण के मन में बैठे 'डर' और 'संदेह' को तर्क से काटते हैं। वे कहते हैं कि भरत द्वारा मन में भी (मनसाप्येष) अनिष्ट सोचने की कल्पना करना असंभव है। राम के अनुसार, भरत का चरित्र इतना पवित्र है कि पाप का विचार भी उन्हें नहीं छू सकता। यह लक्ष्मण को परोक्ष रूप से नसीहत है कि जिसे तुम मारने को तैयार हो, वह तुम्हारे प्रति मन से भी बुरा नहीं सोच रहा।
