अथवा नौ ध्रुवं मन्ये मन्यमान: सुखोचितौ।
वनवासमनुध्याय गृहाय प्रतिनेष्यति ॥२-९७-२२॥
athavā nau dhruvaṃ manye manyamānaḥ sukhocitau |
vanavāsamanudhyāya gṛhāya pratineṣyati ॥2-97-22॥
Translation
Or perhaps, considering us deserving of comfort and reflecting upon our forest exile, he will surely take us back home.
हिंदी अनुवाद
अथवा, हम दोनों को सुख के योग्य मानकर और हमारे वनवास के कष्टों का विचार करके, वे निश्चय ही हमें घर वापस ले जाएंगे।
English Commentary
This verse reflects Rama's deep love and trust in his father's compassion. He speculates that Dasharatha, realizing that his sons—who are accustomed to royal comforts—are suffering in the forest, has come to take them back to Ayodhya. Rama interprets the arrival of the army as an act of paternal mercy to end their exile. There is a profound dramatic irony here: Rama hopefully anticipates a reunion with his father, unaware that Dasharatha has already passed away due to the grief of separation from him.

इस श्लोक में श्रीराम के हृदय में पिता के प्रति अगाध प्रेम और विश्वास झलकता है। वे सोचते हैं कि महाराज दशरथ को वन में उनके पुत्रों के कष्टों का स्मरण हुआ होगा, और उनका कोमल हृदय यह सहन नहीं कर सका होगा। श्रीराम को लगता है कि पिता का आगमन उन्हें वनवास से मुक्त कर अयोध्या लौटाने के उद्देश्य से हुआ है। यह विडंबना (irony) है कि वे जिस पिता के आगमन की आशा कर रहे हैं, उनका स्वर्गवास हो चुका है, परन्तु वनवासी राम अभी इस सत्य से अनभिज्ञ हैं।
