इमां वाप्येष वैदेहीमत्यन्तसुखसेविनीम्।
पिता मे राघव: श्रीमान् वनादादाय यास्यति ॥२-९७-२३॥
imāṃ vāpyeṣa vaidehīmatyantasukhasevinīm |
pitā me rāghavaḥ śrīmān vanādādāya yāsyati ॥2-97-23॥
Translation
Or perhaps my glorious father Raghava will take this Vaidehi (Sita), who is accustomed to great luxury, from the forest and depart.
हिंदी अनुवाद
अथवा मेरे श्रीमान पिता राघव (दशरथ), इस वैदेही (सीता) को, जो अत्यंत सुख भोगने की अभ्यस्त है, वन से (अयोध्या) ले जाने के लिए आए हैं।
English Commentary
Rama’s concern extends beyond himself to his wife, Sita. He acknowledges that Sita (Vaidehi) is accustomed to the utmost luxury and that the hardships of forest life are unsuited for her. He speculates that even if the exile continues for the brothers, his father might have come specifically to rescue Sita from the forest's rigors and return her to the palace. This verse highlights Rama's sensitivity as a husband and his protective instinct, prioritizing Sita's well-being over his own desire for her company in exile.

श्रीराम की चिंता केवल स्वयं के लिए नहीं, बल्कि अपनी पत्नी सीता के लिए भी है। वे जानते हैं कि जनकनन्दिनी सीता राजमहलों के सुखों की अभ्यस्त हैं और वन का कठोर जीवन उनके लिए कठिन है। श्रीराम अनुमान लगाते हैं कि यदि पिता उन्हें (राम-लक्ष्मण को) न भी ले जाएं, तो कम से कम सुकुमारी सीता को वन के कष्टों से बचाने के लिए उन्हें वापस अयोध्या ले जाने आए होंगे। यह श्लोक एक पति के रूप में राम की संवेदनशीलता और सीता के प्रति उनके उत्तरदायित्व बोध को रेखांकित करता है।
