भरतेनापि सन्दिष्टा सम्मर्दो न भवेदिऺति।
समन्तात्तस्य शैलस्य सेना वासमकल्पयत् ॥२-९७-२९॥
bharatenāpi sandiṣṭā sammardo na bhavediti |
samantāttasya śailasy senā vāsamakalpayat ॥2-97-29॥
Translation
Commanded by Bharata saying, "Let there be no overcrowding (or disturbance)," the army established camp all around that mountain.
हिंदी अनुवाद
"कहीं (आश्रम में) भीड़-भाड़ या उपद्रव न हो जाए," भरत द्वारा ऐसा आदेश दिए जाने पर, सेना ने उस पर्वत के चारों ओर अपना पड़ाव डाल दिया।
English Commentary
This verse highlights Bharata's mindfulness and adherence to dharma. Despite arriving with a massive army, he ensures that the sanctity of the hermitage and the peaceful environment of Chitrakoot are not disturbed. By issuing the command to avoid "sammarda" (crowding/disturbance), he orders the army to camp around the mountain rather than intruding directly upon Rama's abode. This disciplined approach sharply contrasts with Lakshmana's earlier fears of a hostile takeover, proving Bharata's intentions are respectful and non-violent.

यह श्लोक भरत के चरित्र की संवेदनशीलता और मर्यादा को उजागर करता है। यद्यपि वे एक विशाल सेना के साथ आए हैं, परन्तु उन्हें इस बात का पूरा ध्यान है कि चित्रकूट के शांत वातावरण और श्रीराम के आश्रम की पवित्रता भंग न हो। 'सम्मर्दो न भवेदिति' (भीड़-भाड़ न हो) का आदेश देकर उन्होंने सेना को आश्रम से उचित दूरी पर, पर्वत के आसपास रुकने का निर्देश दिया। यह लक्ष्मण के उस भय का भी निवारण करता है कि भरत आक्रमण करने आए हैं; भरत तो विनीत भाव से दर्शन हेतु आए हैं।
