निविष्टायां तु सेनायामुत्सुको भरतस्तदा।
जगाम भ्रातरं द्रष्टुं शत्रुध्नमनुदर्शयन् ॥२-९९-१॥
niviṣṭāyāṃ tu senāyāmutsuko bharatastadā |
jagāma bhrātaraṃ draṣṭuṃ śatrughnamanudarśayan ॥2-99-1॥
Translation
When the army was encamped, the anxious Bharata then went to see his brother, pointing out (the signs) to Shatrughna.

सेना के टिक जाने पर, उत्सुक भरत तब शत्रुघ्न को (मार्ग या चिह्न) दिखाते हुए भाई (राम) के दर्शन के लिए चले।
English Commentary
Sarga 99 begins with the final approach. With the army halted ("nivishtayam"), Bharata's focus shifts entirely to the reunion. The word "utsuka" describes his intense eagerness. He walks pointing out ("anudarshayan") the landmarks or signs of the hermitage to Shatrughna. This gesture of showing the way creates a shared moment of anticipation between the two younger brothers as they prepare to face the elder two.

यहाँ से ९९वां सर्ग प्रारंभ होता है। सेना पूरी तरह व्यवस्थित हो चुकी है। भरत की 'उत्सुकता' (eagerness) अब चरम पर है। वे अकेले नहीं, बल्कि शत्रुध्न को साथ लेकर चल रहे हैं और संभवतः आश्रम के धुएं या ध्वजा की ओर संकेत ('अनुदर्शयन्') कर रहे हैं। शत्रुध्न, जो लक्ष्मण के जुड़वां भाई और भरत के निरंतर साथी हैं, इस यात्रा में उनके सहभागी हैं। दोनों भाइयों का लक्ष्य एक ही है—अपने बड़े भाइयों से मिलन।
