Translation
Just upon seeing him, he lamented in distress. Unable to maintain his composure/patience, he spoke these words with a voice choked by tears.
हिंदी अनुवाद
राम को देखते ही वे आर्त होकर विलाप करने लगे। धैर्य धारण करने में असमर्थ होकर, आंसुओं से रुंधी हुई वाणी में वे इस प्रकार बोले।
English Commentary
The visual impact of Rama’s ascetic appearance triggers an immediate vocal breakdown in Bharata. The phrase 'bashpasandigdhaya gira' (with a voice doubtful/choked due to tears) vividly describes the physiology of extreme grief, where speech becomes difficult. Bharata attempts to speak not out of protocol, but out of an inability to contain the sorrow inside ('ashaknuvan dharayitum' - unable to hold it in). This marks the transition from Bharata the Administrator, who led an army through the forest, to Bharata the Brother, who is broken by the sight of his beloved elder sibling in hardship.

भरत का विलाप केवल रोना नहीं है, बल्कि एक गहरा 'आर्तनाद' है। 'दृष्ट्वैव' (देखते ही) शब्द बताता है कि प्रतिक्रिया कितनी तात्कालिक थी। उनकी वाणी 'बाष्पसन्दिग्धया' है, अर्थात आंसुओं के कारण स्पष्ट नहीं है, गला रुंधा हुआ है। भरत, जो स्वभाव से अत्यंत गंभीर और धैर्यवान हैं, यहाँ 'धैर्यात्' (धैर्य से) विचलित हो गए हैं। यह स्थिति दर्शाती है कि राम की दशा देखकर भरत को जो मानसिक आघात लगा है, वह उनकी सहनशक्ति से बाहर है। वे बोलना चाहते हैं, किन्तु शब्द आंसुओं में घुल रहे हैं।
