गच्छन्नेवाथ भरतस्तापसालयसंस्थिताम्।
भ्रातु: पर्णकुटीं श्रीमानुटजं च ददर्श ह ॥२-९९-४॥
gacchannevātha bharatastāpasālayasaṃsthitām |
bhrātuḥ parṇakuṭīṃ śrīmānuṭajaṃ ca dadarśa ha ॥2-99-4॥
Translation
While walking, the glorious Bharata saw his brother's leaf-hut (Parnakuti) and cottage situated in the hermitage of ascetics.
हिंदी अनुवाद
चलते-चलते ही श्रीमान भरत ने तपस्वियों के निवास स्थान में स्थित अपने भाई की पर्णकुटी (पत्तों की कुटिया) और उटज (छप्पर) को देखा।
English Commentary
Bharata finally lays eyes on the destination. He spots the "Parnakutim" (leaf-hut) situated in the ascetic grove. The visual confirmation of Rama's rugged dwelling contrasts sharply with the palaces of Ayodhya they left behind. The use of "dadarsha ha" (he indeed saw) marks the end of the search and the beginning of the emotional confrontation. Seeing the humble abode brings the reality of Rama's ascetic life directly before Bharata's eyes.

अंततः वह क्षण आ गया। चलते हुए (गच्छन्नेव) भरत की दृष्टि उस स्थान पर पड़ी जहाँ राम रहते हैं। उन्होंने 'पर्णकुटीं' (पत्तों से बनी कुटिया) देखी। 'श्रीमान' विशेषण भरत के लिए प्रयुक्त है, जो अब अपनी मंजिल पर पहुँच रहे हैं। राजभवन में रहने वाले भाई की पर्णकुटी देखकर भरत के मन में जो मिश्रित भाव (हर्ष और विषाद) उमड़े होंगे, उसकी कल्पना ही की जा सकती है। यह दृश्य उनके वन गमन के उद्देश्य की पूर्ति का प्रथम चरण है।
