Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
उत्स्मयित्वा महाबाहुः प्रेक्ष्य च अस्ति महाबलः ।
पाद अंगुष्टेन चिक्षेप संपूर्णम् दश योजनम् ॥१-१-६५॥
utsmayitvā mahābāhuḥ prekṣya ca asti mahābalaḥ । pāda aṅguṣṭena cikṣepa saṃpūrṇam daśa yojanam ॥1-1-65॥
Translation
The highly powerful one, the mighty-armed (Śrī Rāma), having smiled lightly and merely looking at the bones, flung it (the carcass) a full ten yojanas with His toe.

वह महाबलवान, विशाल भुजाओं वाले (श्री राम) ने (दुंदुभि के शरीर को देखकर) मंद-मंद मुस्कुराते हुए और उसे एक बार देखकर, अपने पैर के अँगूठे से ही उसे पूरा दस योजन (की दूरी तक) फेंक दिया।
English Commentary
This verse presents the definitive response of Śrī Rāma to Sugrīva's test involving the mountain-like carcass of the Asura Dundubhi. The Mighty-Armed (Mahābāhuḥ) and Highly Powerful (Mahābalaḥ) Śrī Rāma understood the cause of Sugrīva's doubt. Upon seeing the remains, He reacted by smiling lightly (utsmayitvā)—a gentle smile that signifies both self-assurance and perhaps a mild amusement at Sugrīva's apprehension. To demonstrate His power, He performed the feat effortlessly: after merely looking (prekṣya) at the bones, He flung it (cikṣepa) using only the force of His toe (pāda aṅguṣṭena). The verse specifies that He tossed the entire massive carcass a distance of a full ten yojanas. This act decisively surpassed Vāli's original feat of strength, who had only thrown the carcass, whereas Śrī Rāma did so with supreme ease, using only His toe, and covering a much greater distance. This demonstration was sufficient to instantly resolve all of Sugrīva's previous doubts and establish a firm conviction (pratyaya) in Śrī Rāma's immense prowess.

यह श्लोक पिछली कड़ी का निर्णायक उत्तर है, जहाँ सुग्रीव ने श्री राम की शक्ति का प्रमाण देने के लिए दुंदुभि नामक असुर के पर्वताकार शरीर को दिखाया था। महाबाहु (विशाल भुजाओं वाले) और महाबलः (अत्यंत बलवान) श्री राम ने सुग्रीव की शंका को समझा। उन्होंने दुंदुभि के कंकाल को देखकर उत्स्मयित्वा (मंद-मंद मुस्कुराते हुए) अपनी प्रतिक्रिया दी—यह मुस्कान आत्म-विश्वास और सुग्रीव की शंका पर सौम्य आश्चर्य को दर्शाती है। इसके बाद, उन्होंने अपनी शक्ति का प्रदर्शन करने के लिए कोई बड़ा प्रयास नहीं किया; वे केवल उस विशालकाय शरीर को प्रेक्ष्य (देखकर) और अपने पाद अंगुष्टेन (पैर के अँगूठे) के बल से ही उसे उठा कर चिक्षेप (फेंक दिया)। श्लोक में यह स्पष्ट किया गया है कि उन्होंने उस पूरे शरीर को संपूर्णम् दश योजनम् (पूरे दस योजन) की दूरी तक फेंका। यह कार्य वाली के पराक्रम से भी अधिक महान था, क्योंकि वाली ने उसे केवल फेंका था, जबकि श्री राम ने उसे अत्यंत सहजता से, केवल पैर के अँगूठे से, और अत्यधिक दूरी तक फेंक दिया। यह प्रदर्शन सुग्रीव के मन से समस्त संदेह (शंकितः) को तत्क्षण दूर करने और श्री राम के प्रति प्रत्यय (दृढ़ विश्वास) स्थापित करने के लिए पर्याप्त था।
