Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
सः अभिगम्य महात्मानम् कृत्वा रामम् प्रदक्षिणम् ।
न्यवेदयत् अमेयात्मा दृष्टा सीता इति तत्त्वतः ॥१-१-७८॥
saḥ abhigamya mahātmānam kṛtvā rāmam pradakṣiṇam |
nyavedayat ameyātmā dṛṣṭā sītā iti tattvataḥ ॥1-1-78॥
Translation
That one of immeasurable spirit (Śrī Hanumān), having approached the great-souled Śrī Rāma and performed pradakṣiṇam (circumambulation) of him, reported: “Sītā has been seen, this is the truth.”

वह अमेयात्मा (असीम बुद्धि वाले) श्री हनुमान जी महात्मा श्री राम के पास पहुँचकर, उनकी प्रदक्षिणा (परिक्रमा) करके, (उन्हें) यह समाचार सुनाया कि “सीता को देख लिया गया है, यह सत्य है।”
English Commentary
This verse concludes the narrative of Śrī Hanumān's successful mission within the condensed Rāmāyaṇa story in the first Sarga of the Bālakāṇḍa. The phrase saḥ abhigamya mahātmānam highlights Śrī Hanumān's deep reverence and devotion, as he approached Lord Śrī Rāma, who is respectfully referred to as mahātmā (the great-souled one). His first act was kṛtvā Rāmam pradakṣiṇam—performing pradakṣiṇā (circumambulation) of Lord Śrī Rāma, a traditional gesture of utmost respect and worship shown to elders or revered figures. The epithet ameyātmā (one of immeasurable spirit and wisdom) is used for Śrī Hanumān, acknowledging the extraordinary nature of the feat he accomplished. Finally, he delivered the most cherished news: nyavedayat... dṛṣṭā Sītā iti tattvataḥ—he reported with absolute truth and certainty that Mātā Sītā had been seen.
