ततः अग्नि वचनात् सीताम् ज्ञात्वा विगत कल्मषाम् ।
कर्मणा तेन महता त्रैलोक्यम् स चराचरम् ॥१-१-८३॥
tatah agni vachanāt sītām jñātvā vigata kalmaṣām |
karmaṇā tena mahatā trailokyam sa charācharam ॥1-1-83॥
Translation
Thereafter, by the command of Agni, Sita was known to be free from fault. By that great deed, the three worlds, along with all movable and immovable beings were affected.

तत्पश्चात अग्नि के वचन से सीता को निष्कलंक समझा गया। उस महान कर्म से त्रैलोक्य और चराचर जीवों पर इसका प्रभाव पड़ा।
English Commentary
This verse summarizes the critical moment of the Agnipariksha (Fire Ordeal). Following Rama's harsh rejection and Sita's decision to prove her purity by entering the sacred fire, Agni, the God of Fire, appears. The term 'Agni Vachanāt' refers to divine testimony. Agni, the universal witness, certifies Sita's purity. 'Vigata Kalmaṣām' indicates she is free from all sin and blemish. This divine affirmation eradicates any doubt among the gathered gods and mortals. 'Karmaṇā Tena Mahatā' denotes that the 'great deed' refers to the entire sequence—Sita's sacrifice, divine intervention, and restoration of dharma on a universal scale. 'Trailokyam Sa Charācharam' emphasizes that this event touches the cosmic realm, affecting all beings—animate and inanimate. The relief and joy felt by all marks a pivotal point in this narrative.
