Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
प्रहृष्टो मुदितो लोकः तुष्टः पुष्टः सुधार्मिकः ॥निरामयो हि अरोगः च दुर्भिक्ष भय वर्जितः ॥१-१-९०॥
Prahṛṣṭo mudito lokaḥ tuṣṭaḥ puṣṭaḥ sudhārmikaḥ. Nirāmayo hi arogaḥ ca durbhikṣa bhaya varjitaḥ. ॥1-1-90॥
Translation
The people were greatly delighted and joyful, contented, prosperous, and highly righteous. Indeed, they were free from affliction and disease, and devoid of the fear of famine.

प्रजा प्राअमदित और खुश थीं, संतुष्ट, संपन्न, और उचित आचार वाली। निस्संदेह वे रोग-मुक्त और स्वास्थ्य-लाभी थीं, और दुर्भिक्ष के भय से मुक्त थीं।
English Commentary
This verse depicts the era of Rama's rule, famously known as 'Rama Rajya'. It describes the prosperity and well-being of the people. The citizens were delighted and joyful, indicating their mental satisfaction. They were contented and prosperous, which highlights the economic stability of the time. Moreover, they were highly righteous, showing the flourishing of moral values under Rama's governance. Physical health was also excellent as they were free from affliction, signifying high public health standards. Thus, the conditions described in this verse present a classic definition of an ideal kingdom presided over by a virtuous sovereign.
