पिता विभाण्डको अस्माकम् तस्य अहम् सुत औरसः ।
ऋष्यशृङ्ग इति ख्यातम् नाम कर्म च मे भुवि ॥१-१०-१४॥
pitā vibhāṇḍako asmākam tasya aham suta aurasaḥ |
r̥ṣyaśr̥ṅga iti khyātam nāma karma ca me bhuvi ॥1-10-14॥
Translation
Vibhandaka is our father, and I am his aurasa son (lawfully begotten son). My name and deeds (or, actions) are known on earth as Rishyasringa.

This verse contains the direct and simple reply of Rishyasringa Ji to the visiting women (courtesans) who had inquired about his identity in the previous verse (1-10-12). This immediate and open disclosure further underscores his asceticism and his complete unawareness of worldly deception, as he readily gives crucial personal information to strangers who are part of a plot to lure him away.
He first clearly identifies Maharṣi Vibhandaka as his father, and specifies that he is his aurasa son—a son born legitimately, establishing his lineage and status. Finally, he reveals his own name—'Rishyasringa'—and states that his name and karma (his actions, primarily his severe penance and power) are well-known on earth. This declaration speaks volumes about his truthfulness and innocent nature, reflecting a person unexposed to the complexities and artifices of the outside world, and thus, unaware of the hidden agenda of the women he is addressing.
