Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
प्रतिगृह्य तु ताम् पूजाम् सर्वा एव समुत्सुकाः ।
ऋषेर् भीताः च शीघ्रम् तु गमनाय मतिम् दधुः ॥१-१०-१८॥
pratigṛhyatu tām pūjām sarvā eva samutsukāḥ |
ṛṣer bhītāḥ ca śīghram tu gamanāya matim dadhuḥ ॥1-10-18॥
Translation
But having accepted that hospitality, all of them were indeed very eager (to execute their plan), and also fearful of the sage (Vibhāṇḍaka). Therefore, they swiftly resolved on departing.
हिंदी अनुवाद
लेकिन उस पूजा को स्वीकार करते हुए, वे सभी वास्तव में (अपनी योजना को आगे बढ़ाने के लिए) बहुत उत्सुक थे, और ऋषि (विभाण्डक) से डर भी रहे थे। इसलिए, उन्होंने जल्दी से जाने का मन बना लिया।
English Commentary
This verse describes the mindset of the maidens: they accepted the hospitality but were eager to move their plan forward and, at the same time, terrified of the powerful sage Vibhāṇḍaka (Ṛśyaśṛṅga's father) returning unexpectedly. It illustrates their concerns and fears, showing how sensitive they were to the sage's powers, yet still determined to proceed with their intentions. The urgency in their decision to depart indicates a mix of enthusiasm and trepidation in carrying out their plans.
