तम् च राजा दशरथो यशस् कामः कृतांलिः ।
ऋष्यशृङ्गम् द्विज श्रेष्ठम् वरयिष्यति धर्मवित् ॥१-११-८॥
tam ca rājā daśaratho yaśas kāmaḥ kṛtāṃliḥ |
ṛṣyaśṛṅgam dvija śreṣṭham varayiṣyati dharmavit ॥1-11-8॥
Translation
And that King Dasharatha, who is a knower of Dharma (righteousness) and desirous of glory, will request that best among the Brahmans, Rishyasringa, with folded hands (for conducting the ritual).

वह धर्म को जानने वाले तथा यश की कामना करने वाले राजा दशरथ हाथ जोड़कर उन द्विजश्रेष्ठ (ब्राह्मणों में श्रेष्ठ) ऋष्यशृंग से (यज्ञ कराने के लिए) प्रार्थना करेंगे।
English Commentary
King Dasharatha of Ayodhya was greatly distressed due to being childless. In this verse, his minister Sumantra is recounting an ancient prophecy to him, suggesting a course of action. In this context, Sumantra predicts that King Dasharatha, being desirous of glory and a knower of Dharma, will approach the best among Brahmans, Rishyasringa, and request him with folded hands to officiate the ritual for obtaining sons. This verse highlights King Dasharatha's humility and his deep commitment to Dharma. Despite being an Emperor, he is willing to supplicate himself with folded hands (kṛtāṃliḥ) before a sage for the continuity of his lineage. This act underscores the fact that the path of righteousness and respect for revered persons was paramount to the King, motivating him toward achieving worthy progeny. The passage firmly establishes Sage Rishyasringa as the eminent personality capable of fulfilling the King's profound desire.
