सर्वथा प्राप्यसे पुत्राम् चतुरो अमित विक्रमान् ।
यस्य ते धर्मिकी बुद्धिः इयम् पुत्रार्थम् आगता ॥१-१२-१३॥
sarvathā prāpsyase putrām caturo amita vikramān |
yasya te dharmikī buddhiḥ iyam putrārtham āgatā ॥1-12-13॥
Translation
Since this righteous inclination (or intellect) for the purpose of obtaining a son has come to you, you shall certainly obtain four sons of immeasurable valor in every respect.

जिस कारण तुम्हें पुत्र की प्राप्ति के लिए यह धर्मसम्मत बुद्धि (सद्बुद्धि) आई है, इसलिए तुम हर तरह से अतुलनीय पराक्रम वाले चार पुत्रों को प्राप्त करोगे।
English Commentary
This verse constitutes the powerful blessing and assurance given by the sages (led by Vasistha and Rishyashringa) to King Dasharatha, immediately following the preparatory instructions. It transforms the King's hope into a firm prophecy. The sages state that because this dharmikī buddhiḥ (righteous inclination or intellect) has arisen in him for the sake of a son, he will sarvathā (certainly and in every way) obtain his desire. Crucially, the prophecy specifies the outcome: caturo amita vikramān putrām—four sons of immeasurable valor. This explicit declaration not only assures the King of progeny but also foretells the extraordinary strength and glory of his future sons (Rama, Lakshmana, Bharata, and Shatrughna). The emphasis on the King's dharmikī buddhiḥ highlights a key theme in the Ramayana: that actions rooted in Dharma and performed with sincere intent, even for personal desire, are blessed by the spiritual authorities and are destined for success. यह श्लोक ऋषियों द्वारा महाराज दशरथ को दिया गया आशीर्वाद और भविष्यवाणी है, जो पिछले निर्देशों के तुरंत बाद कही गई है। ऋषिगण राजा को न केवल यज्ञ की अनुमति दे रहे हैं, बल्कि सफलता का पूर्ण आश्वासन भी प्रदान कर रहे हैं। वे कहते हैं कि राजा को 'सर्वथा' (निश्चित रूप से/हर तरह से) 'चार पुत्रों' की प्राप्ति होगी। इन पुत्रों की विशेषता 'अमित विक्रमान्' (अतुलनीय/अपार पराक्रम वाले) बताई गई है, जो राम, लक्ष्मण, भरत और शत्रुघ्न के भविष्य के महान कार्यों की ओर संकेत करता है। इस भविष्यवाणी का आधार राजा की 'धर्मिकी बुद्धिः' को बताया गया है—अर्थात् यह सद्बुद्धि कि पुत्रहीनता के दुःख को दूर करने के लिए भी उन्होंने केवल धर्मसम्मत मार्ग (अश्वमेध यज्ञ) ही चुना। ऋषियों के अनुसार, राजा का यह धार्मिक संकल्प ही उनकी सफलता की कुंजी है। यह आशीर्वाद यह सिद्ध करता है कि अयोध्या के राजा के रूप में दशरथ जी का निर्णय धर्मानुकूल था, और इसलिए उन्हें न केवल पुत्र मिलेंगे, बल्कि ऐसे पुत्र मिलेंगे जो महान पराक्रमी होंगे और युगों-युगों तक पूजे जाएँगे।
