छिद्रम् हि मृगयन्त एते विद्वान्सो ब्रह्म राक्षसाः ।
विधिहीनस्य यज्ञस्य सद्यः कर्ता विनश्यति ॥१-१२-१८॥
Chhidram hi mṛgayanta ete vidvānso brahma rākṣasāḥ |
Vidhihīnasya yajñasya sadyaḥ kartā vinaśyati ॥1-12-18॥
Translation
Indeed, those knowledgeable ones are Brahma Rakshasas. The doer of a ritual without proper rites is immediately destroyed.

छिद्रम वास्तव में, ये विद्वान् ब्रह्म राक्षस हैं। विधिहीन यज्ञ का कर्ता तुरंत नष्ट हो जाता है।
English Commentary
This verse emphasizes that proper organization of a Yajna and adherence to rituals is of utmost importance. If an individual performs a ritual without following the appropriate procedures, it not only harms themselves but also negatively impacts society. Knowledgeable individuals are referred to as Brahma Rakshasas, who are versed in scriptures but fail to utilize their knowledge correctly. The purpose of a Yajna is to foster virtuous practices and bring peace and prosperity to society. Hence, when a Yajna is conducted without the right methodology, it leads to detrimental outcomes, and the performer faces adverse consequences. This verse illustrates the significance of purity and adherence to correct processes.
