पुरोहितम् वसिष्ठम् च ये च अन्ये द्विज सत्तमाः ।
ततः सुमंत्रः त्वरितम् गत्वा त्वरित विक्रमः ॥१-१२-६॥
Purohitam Vasiṣṭham ca ye ca anye Dvija sattamāḥ। Tataḥ Sumantraḥ tvaritam gatvā tvarita vikramaḥ ॥1-12-6॥
Translation
Having summoned the priests, Vasiṣṭha, and the other best of the twice-born, Sumantra promptly came running with quick resoluteness.

🙏 Preparation of King Dasharatha's Yajña
This verse relates to Sarga 12 of the Bāla Kāṇḍa of the Rāmāyaṇa, depicting King Dasharatha's command to summon his priests and Vedic scholars. The King specifically orders Sumantra to summon Vasiṣṭha and other esteemed twice-borns. This brief yet significant command highlights the seriousness of the Yajña's organization and the necessity of gathering the right individuals for it. Sumantra’s promptness indicates King Dasharatha’s urgency to carry out the sacrifice swiftly. This Yajña held particular importance above ancestral sacrifices as it was aimed at securing progeny for the King. The gathering of capable priests and learned scholars was essential for the success of this sacrifice.
