समानयस्व सत्कृत्य सर्व देशेषु मानवान् ।
मिथिलाधिपतिम् शूरम् जनकम् सत्य वादिनम् ॥१-१३-२१॥
samānayasva satkṛtya sarva deśeṣu mānavān |
mithilādhipatim śūram janakam satya vādinam ॥1-13-21॥
Translation
"Bring people from all lands with due honor. (Specifically) bring the heroic and truth-speaking King Janaka, the Lord of Mithila."

"सभी देशों से लोगों को सत्कारपूर्वक बुलाओ। (विशेष रूप से) मिथिला नरेश, शूरवीर और सत्यवादी राजा जनक को ले आओ।"
English Commentary
Sage Vasishtha prioritizes King Janaka at the very top of the guest list. Janaka is not merely a neighboring sovereign but a Rajarshi (Royal Sage) renowned for his wisdom and adherence to truth (satya vadinam). Describing him as shuram (heroic) acknowledges his martial prowess, while his spiritual stature commands reverence. This specific invitation sets the stage for the deepening bond between the solar dynasty of Ayodhya and the house of Mithila, foreshadowing the destined union, though strictly speaking, the marriage alliance is yet to occur in the narrative.

वसिष्ठ जी अतिथियों की सूची में सबसे पहला नाम 'जनक' का लेते हैं। राजा जनक न केवल एक पड़ोसी राजा हैं, बल्कि अपनी विद्वता और 'सत्यवादिता' के लिए प्रसिद्ध राजर्षि हैं। उन्हें 'शूरम्' (वीर) कहा गया है, जो उनके क्षत्रिय धर्म को दर्शाता है, और 'सत्य वादिनम्' उनके आध्यात्मिक स्तर को। यहाँ से रामायण के दो महान कुलों—रघुवंश और निमि वंश (जनक का कुल)—के मिलन की भूमिका तैयार होती है, यद्यपि राम-सीता विवाह अभी भविष्य की घटना है।
