Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
बहूनि रत्नानि आदाय राज्ञो दशरथस्य ह ।
ततो वसिष्ठः सुप्रीतो राजानम् इदम् अब्रवीत् ॥ ॥१-१३-३५॥
Bahūni ratnāni ādāya rājño daśarathasya ha । Tato Vasiṣṭhaḥ suprīto rājānam idam abravīt ॥ ॥1-13-35॥
Translation
Those kings arrived bearing many gems and gifts for King Dasharatha. Then, a highly pleased Vasistha spoke the following words to the King.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वे राजा गण राजा दशरथ के लिए बहुत से रत्न और उपहार लेकर आए। तब प्रसन्न होकर वसिष्ठ जी ने राजा दशरथ से यह बात कही।
English Commentary
The visiting kings adhered to protocol by bringing bahuni ratnani (many gems/gifts) as tribute and tokens of friendship for Dasharatha. This signifies Dasharatha's supremacy and the respect he commanded. Vasistha’s satisfaction stems from seeing the flawless execution of the plans—the logistics, the arrivals, and the reception were all successful. He now approaches Dasharatha to formally initiate the next phase.

आने वाले राजा केवल अतिथि नहीं, बल्कि दशरथ के मित्र और सामंत थे, इसलिए वे अपने साथ बहुमूल्य रत्न (भेंट) लेकर आए। यह उस समय की शिष्टाचार पद्धति थी कि जब आप किसी चक्रवर्ती सम्राट के यज्ञ में जाते हैं, तो उपहार लेकर जाते हैं। वसिष्ठ जी की प्रसन्नता का कारण यह था कि सब कुछ योजनानुसार हो रहा था—अतिथि आ गए थे और व्यवस्था उत्तम थी। अब वे यजमान (दशरथ) को सूचित करने के लिए उपस्थित हुए।
