ततो वसिष्ठ प्रमुखाः सर्व एव द्विजोत्तमाः ।
ऋष्यशृन्गम् पुरस्कृत्य यज्ञ कर्म आरभन् तदा ॥ ॥१-१३-४०॥
Tato Vasiṣṭha pramukhāḥ sarva eva dvijottamāḥ । Ṛṣyaśṛngam puraskṛtya yajña karma ārabhan tadā ॥ ॥1-13-40॥
Translation
Thereafter, led by Vasistha, all the foremost Twice-borns (Brahmins) placed Rishyashringa at the forefront and commenced the sacrificial rites.
हिंदी अनुवाद
तदनंतर, वसिष्ठ आदि सभी श्रेष्ठ ब्राह्मणों ने ऋष्यशृंग को (अग्रणी) आगे रखकर उस समय यज्ञ का कार्य आरम्भ किया।
English Commentary
This verse highlights the intricate protocol of Vedic leadership. Although Vasistha is the Royal Priest and senior-most sage, he acknowledges Rishyashringa's specific expertise in this particular Yajna. By placing Rishyashringa "at the forefront" (puraskritya), Vasistha demonstrates humility and wisdom, ensuring the ritual is led by the designated specialist while maintaining his own supervisory role.

यहाँ प्रोटोकॉल (मर्यादा) का सुंदर निर्वाह है। यद्यपि वसिष्ठ कुलगुरु और सबसे वरिष्ठ हैं, परन्तु पुत्रेष्टि और अश्वमेध यज्ञ के विशिष्ट विशेषज्ञ ऋष्यशृंग हैं। इसलिए, वसिष्ठ जी ने अहंकार रहित होकर ऋष्यशृंग को 'पुरस्कृत्य' (आगे करके/नेतृत्व सौंपकर) कार्य आरम्भ किया। यह दर्शाता है कि वैदिक संस्कृति में 'विशेषज्ञता' (Specialization) का सम्मान वरिष्ठता (Seniority) के साथ संतुलित किया जाता था।
