Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
तथा शुचीन् शास्त्र विदः पुरुषान् सु बहु श्रुतान् ।
यज्ञ कर्म समीहन्ताम् भवन्तो राज शासनात् ॥१-१३-८॥
tathā śucīn śāstra vidaḥ puruṣān su bahu śrutān |
yajña karma samīhantām bhavanto rāja śāsanāt ॥1-13-8॥
Translation
And to the pure men, learned in the Shastras and well-versed in traditions, he said: 'By the King's command, may you all organize the sacrificial activities.'

तथा पवित्र, शास्त्रों के ज्ञाता और बहुश्रुत (विद्वान) पुरुषों से कहा—"आप लोग राजा की आज्ञा से यज्ञ के कार्यों का भली-भांति प्रबंध करें।"
English Commentary
Even while issuing orders, Vasishtha invokes Raja Shasanat (by the King's command), reinforcing the King's sovereignty while executing the tasks himself. He specifically addresses men who are Shuchin (pure) and Shastra-vidah (knowers of scripture), ensuring that the management of the sacrifice is in ethical and knowledgeable hands. Purity and scriptural knowledge were non-negotiable prerequisites for anyone involved in the core management of a Vedic sacrifice to ensure its efficacy.

वसिष्ठ जी आदेश देते समय 'राज शासनात्' (राजा की आज्ञा से) शब्द का प्रयोग करते हैं, जो यह सिद्ध करता है कि वे स्वयं निर्णय लेते हुए भी राजा की सत्ता का सम्मान बनाए रखते हैं। वे 'शुचीन्' (पवित्र) और 'शास्त्र विदः' (शास्त्र ज्ञानी) लोगों को यज्ञ का प्रबंध सौंपते हैं, क्योंकि अशुद्ध या अज्ञानी व्यक्ति द्वारा किया गया कार्य यज्ञ को खंडित कर सकता है। 'समीहन्ताम्' का अर्थ है पूरी निष्ठा से कार्य में जुट जाना।
