इष्टका बहु साहस्री शीघ्रम् आनीयताम् इति ।
उपकार्याः क्रियन्ताम् च राज्ञो बहु गुणान्विताः ॥१-१३-९॥
iṣṭakā bahu sāhasrī śīghram ānīyatām iti |
upakāryāḥ kriyantām ca rājño bahu guṇānvitāḥ ॥1-13-9॥
Translation
"Let many thousands of bricks be brought immediately, and let excellent guest-palaces endowed with many amenities be constructed for the kings."

"हजारों ईंटें शीघ्र लाई जाएं और राजाओं के ठहरने के लिए सर्वगुणसंपन्न (अनेक सुविधाओं से युक्त) उपकार्य (अतिथि भवन) बनाए जाएं।"
English Commentary
The mention of 'thousands of bricks' (ishtaka) refers to the construction of the Chayana (sacrificial altar), which requires precise brickwork according to the Shulba Sutras. Furthermore, Vasishtha orders the construction of Upakaryah—temporary palaces or guest houses—for the visiting royalties. The specification bahu gunanvitah (endowed with many qualities/amenities) indicates that hospitality was paramount. The comfort of the guests was treated with as much importance as the ritual itself, reflecting the diplomatic nature of the gathering.

यज्ञ वेदी (चयन) के निर्माण के लिए विशिष्ट ईंटों की आवश्यकता होती है, जिसका संदर्भ यहाँ 'इष्टका' से है। 'उपकार्याः' का अर्थ है वे अस्थाई महल या तंबू जो आगंतुक राजाओं के लिए बनाए जाते हैं। वसिष्ठ जी निर्देश देते हैं कि ये आवास 'बहु गुणान्विताः' होने चाहिए, अर्थात उनमें भोजन, शयन और विश्राम की उत्तम व्यवस्था हो। यह दर्शाता है कि यज्ञ में आने वाले अतिथियों का सत्कार धर्म का एक अभिन्न अंग था।
