विन्यस्ता विधिवत् सर्वे शिल्पिभिः सुकृता दृढाः ।
अष्ट आस्रयः सर्व एव श्लक्ष्ण रूप समन्विताः ॥ ॥१-१४-२६॥
Vinyastā vidhivat sarve śilpibhiḥ sukṛtā dṛḍhāḥ । Aṣṭa āsrayaḥ sarva eva ślakṣṇa rūpa samanvitāḥ ॥ ॥1-14-26॥
Translation
All the posts were firmly crafted by artisans and placed according to the prescribed rules. Every one of them was octagonal (eight-sided) and possessed a smooth, polished finish.

शिल्पियों द्वारा मजबूती से बनाए गए वे सभी यूप विधिपूर्वक स्थापित किए गए थे। वे सभी आठ कोणों वाले (अष्टाश्रि) थे और उनका रूप अत्यंत चिकना (मसृण) और सुंदर था।
English Commentary
Here, the focus shifts to the craftsmanship and structural engineering of the Yupas. They were 'Dridhah' (firm/sturdy) and installed 'Vidhivat' (according to rule), ensuring safety and stability. The most striking technical detail is 'Ashta asrayah'—they were octagonal. In Vedic architecture, the octagon represents the eight directions (four cardinal and four ordinal), symbolizing the all-encompassing nature of the sacrifice. Carving a perfect octagon out of hardwood requires immense skill compared to a simple round log. The description 'Shlakshna' (smooth/polished) indicates a high level of refinement; there were no rough edges. This blend of aesthetic beauty, symbolic geometry, and structural integrity showcases the excellence of the artisans employed by Dasharatha.

यह श्लोक प्राचीन भारत की उन्नत शिल्पकला (Carpentry/Architecture) का प्रमाण है। यूपों का 'दृढाः' (मजबूत) होना आवश्यक था क्योंकि उन्हें विशाल पशुओं को संभालने के लिए प्रयोग किया जा सकता था। सबसे महत्वपूर्ण विवरण है 'अष्ट आस्रयः'—वे आठ कोनों वाले थे। गोल खम्भे बनाना आसान होता है, लेकिन लकड़ी को तराश कर एकदम सही 'अष्टकोण' (Octagon) बनाना कुशल कारीगरी मांगता है। आठ कोण आठ दिशाओं का प्रतीक हैं, जिसका अर्थ है कि यह यज्ञ चारों दिशाओं और चारों विदिशाओं में धर्म का प्रसार करेगा। 'श्लक्ष्ण' (चिकना/Smooth) शब्द बताता है कि उनकी फिनिशिंग उच्च कोटि की थी, कहीं भी खुरदरापन नहीं था जो किसी को चोट पहुँचा सके।
