दश कोटि सुवर्णस्य रजतस्य चतुर् गुणम् ।
ऋत्विजः च ततः सर्वे प्रददुः सहिता वसु ॥ ॥१-१४-५१॥
Daśa koṭi suvarṇasya rajatasya catur guṇam |
Ṛtvijaḥ ca tataḥ sarve pradaduḥ sahitā vasu ॥1-14-51॥
Translation
The King gave ten crores (100 million) of gold coins and four times that amount in silver. Then, all the priests collectively placed that wealth together.

राजा ने दस करोड़ स्वर्ण मुद्राएं और उससे चार गुना (चालीस करोड़) चाँदी दी। तदनंतर, सभी ऋत्विजों ने वह सारा धन एक साथ रख दिया।
English Commentary
King Dasharatha’s donation was astronomical—100 million gold pieces and 400 million silver pieces. This reflects the immense prosperity of the Ayodhya kingdom. The second part of the verse is crucial: the priests did not scramble for the wealth individually. Instead, they pooled the resources together. This collective action demonstrates their discipline and lack of greed. They intended for the wealth to be distributed formally by their superiors, ensuring order and fairness rather than personal accumulation.
