Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
पितरम् रोचयामास तदा दशरथम् नृपम् ।
तदा देव ऋषि गन्धर्वाः स रुद्राः स अप्सरो गणाः ।
स्तुतिभिः दिव्य रूपाभिः तुष्टुवुः मधुसूदनम् ॥ ॥१-१५-३२॥
Pitaram rocayāmāsa tadā Daśaratham nṛpam । Tadā deva ṛṣi gandharvāḥ sa rudrāḥ sa apsaro gaṇāḥ । Stutibhiḥ divya rūpābhiḥ tuṣṭuvuḥ Madhusūdanam ॥ ॥1-15-32॥
Translation
He then chose King Dasharatha as His father. At that moment, the Devas, Rishis, Gandharvas, Rudras, and hosts of Apsaras praised Madhusudana (Vishnu) with divine hymns.
हिंदी अनुवाद
तब उन्होंने राजा दशरथ को अपने पिता के रूप में पसंद (निश्चित) किया। उस समय देवताओं, ऋषियों, गंधर्वों, रुद्रों और अप्सराओं के समूहों ने दिव्य स्तुतियों द्वारा भगवान मधुसूदन (विष्णु) का स्तवन किया।
English Commentary
Vishnu rocayāmāsa (found pleasing/chose) Dasharatha, validating the king's lifelong piety. The immediate reaction of the cosmos is joyous praise. The use of the name Madhusudana (Slayer of the demon Madhu) is significant here; it serves as a reminder of His past victories over evil, reinforcing the Devas' faith that the Slayer of Madhu will successfully eliminate Ravana as well.

विष्णु ने दशरथ को 'रोचयामास' (पसंद किया/रुचिकर माना)। यह दशरथ की तपस्या का फल था। जैसे ही निर्णय हुआ, ब्रह्मांड हर्षित हो उठा। यहाँ 'मधुसूदन' नाम का प्रयोग प्रासंगिक है; मधु नामक दैत्य का वध करने वाले विष्णु को याद दिलाकर देवता यह आशा व्यक्त कर रहे हैं कि जैसे मधु का अंत हुआ, वैसे ही रावण का भी होगा। यह चयन और स्तुति का क्षण रामायण की कथा का एक निर्णायक मोड़ है।
