भगवन् त्वत् प्रसादेन रावणो नाम राक्षसः ।
सर्वान् नो बाधते वीर्यात् शासितुम् तम् न शक्नुमः ॥ ॥१-१५-६॥
Bhagavan tvat prasādena rāvaṇo nāma rākṣasaḥ |
Sarvān no bādhate vīryāt śāsitum tam na śaknumaḥ ॥1-15-6॥
Translation
(The Devas said) "O Lord! Due to your grace (boon), a demon named Ravana oppresses us all with his might, and we are unable to discipline him."
हिंदी अनुवाद
(देवताओं ने कहा) "हे भगवन्! आपकी कृपा (वरदान) के कारण रावण नामक राक्षस हम सबको अपने बाहुबल से पीड़ित कर रहा है, और हम उसे रोकने (शासित करने) में समर्थ नहीं हैं।"
English Commentary
The Devas present their grievance with a touch of irony. They say Ravana is oppressing them tvat prasādena (due to your grace/boon). This refers to the invincibility boon Brahma granted Ravana after his severe penance. The gods admit they are powerless to punish (śāsitum) him because fighting him would mean fighting against Brahma’s own blessing. This establishes the classic mythological trope: a demon empowered by divine law who then abuses that power.
हिंदी टीका
देवताओं की शिकायत में एक विडंबना छिपी है—'त्वत् प्रसादेन' (आपकी कृपा से)। रावण इतना शक्तिशाली इसलिए नहीं है कि वह जन्म से ऐसा था, बल्कि इसलिए है क्योंकि उसने तपस्या करके ब्रह्मा जी से वरदान प्राप्त किया है। देवता विनम्रतापूर्वक ब्रह्मा जी को याद दिला रहे हैं कि यह संकट परोक्ष रूप से उन्हीं की देन है। वे अपनी असहायता व्यक्त करते हैं कि वे रावण को 'शासित' (दंडित/नियंत्रित) नहीं कर पा रहे हैं। यह 'धर्म संकट' की स्थिति है जहाँ विधि का वरदान ही अधर्म का कवच बन गया है।
