ततस्तु ताः प्राश्य तद् उत्तम स्त्रियो महीपतेः उत्तम पायसम् पृथक् ।
हुताशन आदित्य समान तेजसः अचिरेण गर्भान् प्रतिपेदिरे तदा ॥ ॥१-१६-३१॥
tatastu tāḥ prāśya tad uttama striyo mahīpateḥ uttama pāyasam pṛthak |
hutāśana āditya samāna tejasaḥ acireṇa garbhān pratipedire tadā ॥1-16-31॥
Translation
Then, those excellent ladies consumed that excellent Payasam given by the King. Glowing with radiance like the Fire and the Sun, they soon conceived.
हिंदी अनुवाद
तदनन्तर, उन उत्तम रानियों ने राजा के द्वारा दिए गए उस श्रेष्ठ पायस को अलग-अलग ग्रहण किया। उसके सेवन से वे अग्नि और सूर्य के समान तेजस्वी हो गईं और शीघ्र ही गर्भवती हुईं।
English Commentary
The consumption represents the conception. The verse emphasizes the immediate metaphysical transformation of the queens. They began to glow with the brilliance of Hutashana (Fire) and Aditya (the Sun), signaling that they were now carrying divine energy within their wombs. The repetition of the word uttama (excellent) for both the women and the Payasam reinforces the purity of the vessel and the content. The conception happened acireṇa (without delay), fulfilling the promise of the Yajna.

जैसे ही रानियों ने पायस ग्रहण किया, उसका प्रभाव तत्काल दिखाई देने लगा। वे 'हुताशन आदित्य समान तेजसः' (अग्नि और सूर्य के समान तेज वाली) हो गईं। यह साधारण गर्भ नहीं था; उनके भीतर स्वयं भगवान विष्णु के अंश आ रहे थे, इसलिए उनके शरीरों से दिव्य कांति फूट पड़ी। 'अचिरेण' (शीघ्र ही) वे गर्भवती हो गईं। यहाँ वाल्मीकि जी ने भौतिक प्रक्रिया के बजाय दैवीय प्रभाव पर जोर दिया है। वह पायस साधारण भोजन नहीं, बल्कि ऊर्जा का पुंज था जिसने रानियों की काया पलट दी।
